They are playable as in drive around and shoot stuff. I mean, the tanks started out as a pet-project and weren't even part of the 'flight sim,' but it garnered enough interest that they are going to make an expansion based on tank game-play. You should check out Youtube for some videos. I mean the tank-play is rudimentary but still fun. They even have mixed battles where there are pilots flying above and tanks fighting below.
